Death as a natural process iii

Viewing death as a natural process of life. As a culture we are removed from death in its many ways. Dying is a part of life as we know it and in this series I wish to explore the natural form that it has taken and its complexities.

Approaching Winter

Wed Nov 4, 2009, 12:55 PM
After the passing away of a friend of mine I felt I needed to paint it. She was a friend of mine for years, died of cancer just 2 weeks before her 25th birthday. As a way of dealing with this I wanted to learn about death and why it is so difficult to deal with when it is so much a part of us. We are all limited in our physical and mental existence, but what of the spirit? what is our purpose? These and other questions came to mind in my painting with dirt and watercolor. I wanted to feel the earth and the elements and in some way become a part of it. A lot of emotion came out in this series. She will be greatly missed and always loved.

As I start working more this winter I feel a new process of working is in order.

I've learned that when it comes to art, people often ask for a critique but what they really want is a blowjob.

Looking at you reminds me of looking at the sun, and how the blind are so damned lucky.
:iconcarnationk:
Back at you.
